The Truman Library and Museum will make an unusual payment on May 23 in Overland Park, Kan.

Festivity abounded Sunday as 3,300 women and girls participated in the Mother’s Day 5K at Corporate Woods in Overland Park, billed as the only 5K run in the area organized by women and for women. Now in its eighth year, the event was sponsored by Kansas City Express, a walking and running club for women.

A Leavenworth County man is scheduled to appear in Kansas City federal court this afternoon on charges that he tried to hire a hit man to kill his wife.
